For an industry that revolves around a single plant, you'd think that the cannabis industry would be a model of sustainability. The unfortunate truth is that collectively we have a long way to go to making the cannabis industry as environmentally-friendly as it should and can be.
Child-resistant packaging is one of the biggest pressure points- it's notoriously difficult to make sustainable, as most packaging companies only offer childproof components made of plastic. Over the past two years, Kiva has taken considerable effort and cost to update our packaging and deliver more sustainable and environmentally-friendly products to our consumers. We are proud to reveal this new packaging today.
The new child-resistant Kiva Bar carton is 100% biodegradable, using a biodegradable film to make the box tear-resistant, instead of the non-recyclable/non-biodegradable laminations that most cannabis companies typically use.
The new child-resistant Terra and Camino tins are all metal and fully recyclable, a huge improvement to our previous tins, which used non-recyclable plastic inserts.
Why has Kiva taken the effort and expense to create a more sustainable footprint? Because we care about the plant, the planet and all of its people. And we believe that it's up to each of us to make changes both big and small in order to create a viable future for us all.
